Bettie Woodruff Smith, 81, of Lynchburg went home to be with her Lord on Monday, May 20, 2013 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of Franklin D. Smith.
Born February 29, 1932 in Lynchburg, to the late Leroy Woodruff, Sr. and Elizabeth Woodruff.
Bettie was preceded in death by two sons, Gregory "Blue" Smith and Raymond Levi Smith.
In addition to her husband she survived by two sons, Ronald (Joyce) Smith, of Madison Heights and Jerry (Brenda) Smith of Lynchburg; four daughters, Patsy Pinn, of Forest, Cherlyn (Otis) Thomas, Gladys Smith and Jennifer Smith, all of Lynchburg; sister, Jean (Tinny) Blyther, of Washington, DC; four brothers, Leroy "Bugg" (Mary) Woodruff, Alvin (Ann) Woodruff, Owen Woodruff, all of Lynchburg and Sidney Woodruff, of Washington, DC; fifteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to express our love and great appreciation to our Dad, Franklin Smith for the excellent care he has provided to our mom. The family would also like to thank all the nurses and Doctors at Lynchburg General Hospital Neurological ICU for all the care given to our mother Bettie Smith.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, May 24, 2013 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, with Rev. James Johnson, officiating and Rev. Johnny Ford, Pastor, as eulogist.
