Obituary

Bessie Mae Coles nickname "Teny" passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Lynchburg General Hospital.  She was born on August 19, 1943, to the late James and Mary Cunningham Coles.  "Teny" was preceded in death by one brother Aubrey Guy Coles and two sisters, Mildred Virginia Coles and Jeanett Ruby Ward.

She was educated in Lynchburg City Schools class of 1962.  She accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of New Dearington Baptist Church for over 60 years where she serviced as choir president, choir member and video taping all programs at the church.  "Teny" work at Archer Creek Foundry for 11 years; Rock Tenn Paper Mill for 17 years and retired from Centra Health after 5 years of service.

She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Dernick D. Coles, of Baltimore, MD, Terri A. Coles and Barry A. Coles, both of Lynchburg, VA; one brother, James Coles, Jr. of Hawaii; four grandkids, Elizabeth Richburg (Kirk), Tiffany Brown (Greg), Brittany Coles and Courtney Coles, all of Lynchburg; 7 great-grandkids and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 23, 2022, at New Dearington Baptist Church with Pastor, Rev. Artmus Dixon, officiating.  The interment will be in the Baptist Cemetery.  Family and friends may view on Saturday, from 11:00 to 4:00 PM at Davis-Turner Funeral Service.  Condolences may be sent to www.Davis-Turner.com .  Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
