Obituary

Bertha Edna Davis, 75, of 157 Arthur Ct., Amherst, passed away at 1:30 pm Friday, September 14, 2007 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. Bertha was born May 8, 1932 to the late Ernest and Lula Canada and was a devoted wife to the late John Davis, Jr.
She was preceeded in death by one daughter, Virginia Ann Davis; one brother, Taylor Canada and one sister, Mamie Campbell.
She is survived by three sons, Garnell (Arlene) Davis, Maurice (Ann) Davis and Wayne Davis and devoted friend Rose Lee, all of Amherst; three daughters, Carolyn Bowling, Brenda Davis both of Greensboro, NC and Juanita Elliott of Amherst; three brothers, Walter (Ruth) Canada, Emmitt Canada and Hargie (Jessie) Canada all of Amherst; one uncle, Macon Sales, of Amherst; three aunts, Marvis Rose, Annie Canada both of Amherst and Rose Leevy, of PA; three sisters-in-law, Julia Braxton, Carolyn Davis and Annie Davis all of Amherst; one brother-in-law, James Davis of PA; eighteen grandchildren including two devoted grandchildren, Sharon Paige and Karen McDaniel and twenty-seven great grandchildren; devoted friend, Louise White; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at St. Mary's Baptist Church, Lowesville, with Rev. Robert Cabell, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Christian Aid Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence. Mrs. Davis will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Condolences may be sent to www.Davis-Turner.com.
