Bernice Marie Tucker departed this life on January 24, 2021 at her home, 710 Madison St. Lynchburg, VA. She was born on January 2, 1948, to Rosie Etta Tucker and the late John Lewis Tucker. Bernice was preceded in death by a daughter, Danita Slaughter; two sons, Christopher and Reginald Slaughter; and the love of her life, Garlon Cabler, Sr.

Bernice was a mother to many that entered her home. She enjoyed cooking, listening to music, and putting together puzzles.

Bernice is survived by six sons, Marvin, Kenneth, Kevin, and Ronald Slaughter, Warren Cabler, and Garlon Cabler, Jr. all of Lynchburg, VA; two stepchildren, Trina Cabler-Bryant and Gregory Callands, Sr. also of Lynchburg, VA; two sisters, Connie Thurman of Lynchburg, VA and Lillie Rucker of Las Vegas, NV; five brothers, John Tucker of Long Beach, CA, Robert Tucker of Monroe, VA, Richard Rucker, Jr. of Lynchburg, VA, Earnest and Ronnie Haynes of Lynchburg, VA; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and her beloved dog, Daisy.

A celebration of life will be held 11AM Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Chapel Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Lee, Eulogist. Interment will be in the Chapel Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
