Benjamin "Bennie" C. Porter, of Cleveland, OH, formerly of Lynchburg passed away October 30, 2015 in Cleveland, Ohio. Benjamin was born on May 21, 1956 in Lynchburg, Virginia to Joyce P. McCray and he was the stepson of the late Deacon Randolph McCray, Jr. Benjamin was baptized at an early age and joined the Mt. Peeler Baptist Church. He attended Campbell County Public Schools.
Bennie joined the United States Marines Corps on April 17, 1974 and was honorably discharged on April 18, 1981. He moved to Cleveland, Ohio and was loved by his extended families the Wilkes, the McCoys and his many beloved friends.
Bennie leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Joyce McCray; two sisters, Carol Franklin and Ramona Porter; his aunts, Rosell (James) Johnson, Margie (Henry) Hubbard, Marie Porter, Cynthia Porter, Wanda Porter, all of Lynchburg and Revell (James) Smith, of Greensboro, NC; his maternal grandmother, Lorraine (Mama Rene) Porter and his other Ma, Clara McCoy; his caring uncles, Alphonzo Porter, Clyde (Pat) Porter, Edgar (Val) Porter, Perry (Joyce) Porter, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
