Barbara Carter born March 9, 1954, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2024, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Hughes Carter; a dear aunt, Elizabeth Higginbotham who raised her; brothers, Joseph and David Carter; sister, Debra Ann Carter; and nephew, Jamaal Bleasdell.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Latoya Carter; two grandchildren, Ja'Miracle Carter and Marrco Smith; two sisters, Mary and Sheila Carter; four nieces, Cynthia Wilson, Angela Johnson (Leroy), Latasha Carter (Mark), and Takia Carter (Bobby) all of Lynchburg; her god-mom, Wanda Brown of Monroe, Virginia; special friend, Mary Ellen Anderson; a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2024, at Peaceful Baptist Church. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
