Long
May 24, 1943 – February 22, 2025
On Saturday morning, February 22, 2025, the Lord sent his angels to escort Aurelia Carnetta (Connie) Pinn Long to be with Him. Connie was born on May 24, 1943, in Lynchburg, Virginia to the late Owen and Virginia Pinn.
Connie was introduced to Jesus at an early age and was baptized at Brookville Baptist Church. She went on to serve and follow him all of her life.
In 1961, she graduated from Dunbar High School and went on to attend Hampton Institute now Hampton University to study home economics.
After a year of study, she returned home to work at Lynchburg General Hospital as a nurse aide. She was then employed briefly at Dale Garment Factory as one of the first Black machine operators along with her sister, Priscilla. She then found her niche at General Electric, now known as Ericsson, educating and training employees in the art of soldering before she retired.
Connie was joined in holy matrimony to the late Richard J. Long and had celebrated 59 years of marriage at the time of his passing. From that union three sons were born, Richard A. Long, Sr. (Jackie), Gregory O. Long, Sr., and Bryan S. Long (Beckley); seven grandchildren, Richard, Jr., Tabitha, Gregory, Jr., Gabriel, Kaitlin, and Nehemiah; and two great-grandchildren, Owen and Gianna. Connie was preceded in death by her grandson, Cameron.
She also leaves to mourn her five sisters, Priscilla Pinn, Maxine P. Reid (Elmer), Gail Pinn, Stella P. Dolsey (Samuel), and Angela P. Graham (Timotheus); along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Forest Hill Burial Park. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
