Early Sunday morning, January 31, 2016, God whispered softly to Deaconess Arelia Leftwich of Amherst, VA, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest." Sister Arelia graciously answered God's call and departed to her heavely home.
Arelia was born December 25, 1944 in Amherst County to the late Deacon Randolph, Sr. and Deaconess Bertha McCray. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Timothy Baptist Church. After uniting with her husband, Price Wilson Leftwich, she later joined Piney Hill Baptish Church in Amherst where she was a member of the Senior Choir, Gospel Chorus, Missionary Circle, Deaconess Board, Hospitality Committee, Sick/Shut-In Committee and The Flower Club.
Arelia was preceded in death by a son, Leroy Leftwich, a grandson, Donta Leftwich, three brothers; Rev. Robert McCray, Donald McCray and Deacon Randolph McCray; two sisters, Mary B. Gold and Ada Rucker.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Price Wilson Leftwich, one devoted Son, Jackie (Angie) Leftwich, one siter, Alma (Alvin) Dickerson and one brother Ernest Carl McCray. Two grandsons; Duryea and Jericho Leftwich, four sisters-in-law, Hazel Rucker, Joyce McCray, Sally Love, Barbara McCray and Sadie Leftwich, three brothers-in-law, Fred Leftwich, Alfonza Leftwich, Jr., Alvin Dickerson and Robert Gold and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
