An angel descended from heaven on Monday, January 5, 2009, and took home our beloved husband, son, father, grandson, son-in-law and nephew, Anthony DeVron Payne, Sr. Anthony was affectionately known by many other names; "Chucky", "Slick", "Antonio", "Big Anthony", "Anthony Wayne" and "Jerry Wayne".
Anthony had an infectious, hearty laugh, and was a loyal husband and dedicated father and son. He was known throughout the Lynchburg/Madison Heights area as a competent and well-respected auto mechanic, serving many out of the goodness of his heart. Anthony was a friend to many, and a stranger to none.
Anthony was born on August 20, 1975 in Lynchburg, VA. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Wayne Payne, and his paternal grandmother, Pauline Payne. He is survived by his loving wife, Rawad A. Payne; two sons, Anthony D. Payne, Jr. and Redmond A. Payne; his devoted mother, Julia Anderson Payne; devoted mother-in-law, Sharon McQueary all of Madison Heights; maternal grandfather, Perno T. Anderson, of Forest, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 10, 2008 at the Old Thomas Road Baptist Church, 701 Thomas Rd. with Rev. Edward Jones officiating.
