Annie Bell Smith departed this life in the early morning hours on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Avante Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born September 7, 1925 to the late Minnie Dillard and the late Willard Rose. She joined Timothy Baptist Church at an early age. She was married to the late George H. Smith. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Eugene Smith and George Thomas Smith; daughter, Susan Smith Mathis and a brother, Robert Dillard.
Annie is survived by four daughters, Alice Pannell (A.C.), of Lynchburg, Jacqueline Richardson, of Madison Heights, Annie M. Smith, of Washington, DC and Margaret Horsley (Melvin) of Lynchburg; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernice Rose, of New Jersey, two sisters-in-law, Mamie Rucker, of Lynchburg and Cornelia Smith, of Chester, PA; brother-in-law, Dealy Smith of Lynchburg and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Timothy Baptist Church, with Rev. Scottie Craft, officiating. The interment will be in the church cemetery. Her remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family is receiving friends and the cortege will assemble at 1104 Tyree St. Lynchburg.
