Obituary

Annie Mathew, born into a loving Christian family to Rev. C.O. Jacob and Aleyamma Jacob in Kerala, India, passed away on May 30, 2024. She was surrounded by her family, who released her into the hands of Jesus in heartfelt prayer.

Annie spent her formative years in Mumbai, where she initially aspired to become an accountant. However, her path led her to study Industrial Pharmacy. She earned her master's in industrial pharmacy from Kalina University in Mumbai and began her career at Lyka Labs, where she worked until 1989.

Annie had clear convictions about marriage, believing it should be entirely God's plan. Defying traditional norms, she set specific conditions for her parents, which seemed impossible. Yet, through divine intervention, Finny Mathew came into her life, leading to their unique and blessed union on July 16, 1988.

In 1989, Annie migrated to the USA and quickly secured a job at Zenith Laboratories in Northvale, New Jersey. During this period, she lived with her in-laws, Rev. Mathai P. Mathai and Annamma Mathai, in Bergenfield, NJ. Annie and Finny were blessed with three children: Rebekah (March 22, 1995), Reuben (March 30, 1999), and Raphael (August 10, 2000). Despite the demands of motherhood, Annie continued to work diligently. Her talents were discovered by Barr Labs, where she embarked on a successful career marked by her dedication and strong work ethic, which was recognized and rewarded.

In 2000, the family relocated with Barr Labs from New Jersey to Virginia. After a brief retirement from Barr Labs in 2013, Annie launched her own consulting firm, Fifth Domain Consulting, in 2014, which she ran successfully until her passing.

The Mathew family briefly attended Bedford Church of God before becoming active members of Lynchburg Church of God, known today as Passion Community, which Annie considered her home church. In 2004, the family founded the FARRR Foundation, affectionately known within the community as The Lighthouse, showcasing Annie's deep commitment to community service. Her generosity and cheerful giving have positively impacted many lives over the past 20 years.

Annie was a devoted woman of God, embodying the virtues of the Proverbs 31 woman. She loved God deeply, cherished her family, and committed herself fully to ministry and work. Her life was marked by simplicity, humility, and unwavering faithfulness.

On May 30, 2024, at 3:54 am, Annie took her last breath and entered eternal rest with the Lord. Her legacy of faith, love, and service continues to inspire those who knew her. Her greatest desire was for her friends, especially those from India, to experience the love of Jesus Christ. The seeds she planted over the past two decades have borne fruit, and her dream of serving and giving will continue to flourish.

Annie is survived by her beloved husband, Finny Mathew, and their children: Rebekah and her husband Daniel, Reuben, and Raphael. Though she is now resting in the arms of Jesus, her family looks forward to a joyful reunion in eternity. Annie, we miss you and love you deeply. May your soul rest in peace.

With love, Finny, Rebekah & Daniel, Reuben, Raphael.
