Alfred Winston Hood, Jr., also known to many as "Boo" went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 27, 2024. He peacefully departed this life in his home as he slept.
Alfred was born in Lynchburg, Virginia on April 1, 1972, to Barbara and Alfred Hood, Sr. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Nannie Jones, and his maternal grandparents, Wilburn and Mabel Cunningham.
Alfred attended Rustburg High School and worked at an early age. He was employed at Abbott Laboratories in Altavista, Virginia. He was quickly known for his charismatic personality and cheerful disposition. Alfred accepted Christ at an early age while attending New Vine Baptist Church.
Alfred had a love for family. He loved his three daughters. He enjoyed spending time with his cousins, friends, and co-workers. Alfred spent much of his time in the library reading books on the stock market and how to one day own a business. He enjoyed watching football on Sundays at his dad's home. Alfred was known for his distinctive swagger, a style and confidence like no other.
Alfred is survived by his father, Alfred Hood, Sr., and his mother, Barbara Cunningham-Hood. His three daughters, Shatia Hood, Biore Hood, and Jada Hood, all of Lynchburg, Virginia. His siblings, Erica Hood and Tamora Lester (Dion). He is also survived by his grandson, Layden Johnson; nephew, Denario Rucker; niece, India Lester; close cousin, Derrick Jones, Stephen Marshall; and friends, Haywood Canada and Matthew Word.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024, at New Vine Baptist Church. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
