Alexander (Alex) Howard Payne, fondly known as AP, departed this life on February 25, 2025, at Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, VA.

He was born in Lynchburg, VA on February 13, 1990, to the late Freda Diane Payne and George Washington Rose. In addition to his mother, Alex is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Howard and Emma Payne; his paternal grandparents, Albert and Patricia Rose; a maternal aunt, Marcha Rose, and a paternal uncle, Albert Rose.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Alexis Graves of South Boston, VA; father, George Rose of Lynchburg, VA; a devoted sister, Rosetta Rose (Jeremy Hutcherson) of South Boston, VA, and sisters, Patricia Rose of Portland, Oregon, and Emily Coley-Payne of South Boston, VA; brother, Dominic Coley-Payne of Radford, VA; two half-sisters, Qunita and Lorna; maternal aunt, Catherine Payne Garrett ( James) of South Boston, VA; paternal aunts, Njeri Mwalimu, Joan Rose, Patricia Sutton, Mary Rose, and Katherine Barnhart all of Amherst, VA, and Sakinah Rose of Lynchburg, VA, and paternal uncles, Peter Rose of Madison Heights, VA, John Rose, Roosevelt Rose, and Henry Rose, all of Amherst, VA, and Lovie Rose of Washington, DC; three nieces, Diamond, Precious, and Serenity Rose; three nephews, TJ, Sincere Rose, and Qualeem Hutcherson; devoted friends, Kendrick Reid, Stefon Canada, Berneal Miller, and Edward Sims; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 1-2 PM at the Edmunds Park Pavilion located at 3164 Dan River Church Rd, South Boston, VA 24592 and on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 1-2 PM at the Valley of the Roses located at 130 Rose Petal Lane, Amherst, VA 24521.
