On April 23, 2013, our dear father and brother, Albert "Pap" Saunders, Jr. departed from this life at the Skill Care Unit at Virginia Baptist Hospital.
He was born on September 8, 1925, to the late Albert Saunders, Sr. and Mabel Saunders.
He was preceded in death by Bobby, David, Wilbert and Lorenza Saunders.
He was just recently baptized in Jesus name at the Christ Temple Apostolic Church, filled with the Holy Ghost.
He was employed by the city of Lynchburg for approximately 15 years and also at GlaMorgan Foundry for about five years. Deep Sea fishing was one of his favorite past times. He loved to travel and he diligently visited the sick and shut-in. He was known as the "Mayor" of Fifth Street and the funeral Homes.
He is survived by two daughters, Patricia and Roselyn Williams of New York; two sons, Corridan Woody, of Lynchburg and Warren Stanly Saunders, of New York; five sisters, Ms. Mabel Saunders, of Lynchburg, Genevieve White, of Maryland, Julia Paige (Melvin) of Concord, Margarite Payne (Delaware), Cora J. (William) Ross, both of Lynchburg; three brothers, John Lynwood (Mary Jane), Leroy all of Lynchburg and Morgan Freeman; eight grandchildren, Cherie, Akia, Nicole, Corrine, Curtis, Alisha, Alexie, and Levert; seventeen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
